The emergence of AI-generated virtual influencers, often dressed provocatively, serves as a wake-up call for the entertainment industry, including Hollywood writers, actors, and other content creators.
Thanks to advancements in AI technology, image and video generators, as well as chatbots, have paved the way for virtual influencers like “Milla Sofia” to share seemingly luxurious experiences on social media.
Sofia, who claims to be from Finland and shares bikini pictures from European travels, presents content that appears remarkably genuine to the untrained eye. However, it’s essential to recognize that she is actually a “24-year-old virtual influencer and fashion model,” as stated on the AI bot’s website.
Since late 2022, the AI influencer has been active on various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. While the content has remained largely unchanged, the noticeable improvement in the realism of the pictures can be attributed to the advancements in AI technology.
“I’m always on the grind, learning and evolving through fancy algorithms and data analysis,” Sofia’s website continues. “I’ve got this massive knowledge base programmed into me, keeping me in the loop with the latest fashion trends, industry insights, and all the technological advancements.”
Sofia is not the sole AI influencer present on Twitter. A quick search reveals dozens of others.
“Who needs pickup lines when you can be a virtual girl?” tweeted Alexis Ivyedge, another virtual influencer.
Furthermore, Hollywood faces another issue concerning its striking actors and writers. The unions representing them are worried that major studios such as Netflix, Sony, Amazon, and Disney may opt to replace human creators with AI. This concern has escalated after Netflix posted job listings seeking AI experts, much to the chagrin of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA.
Adding to the woes of content creators and individuals in the Hollywood industry, Goldman Sachs recently shared a note with its clients regarding jobs at risk of exposure to AI several months ago.
AI-produced artwork has conjured up criticism because some platforms now let users sell their creations. Hereβs how AI predicts what face of God could look like.
