Researchers in Sweden released a study last year that explained how Viagra could be utilized to relieve excessive blood pressure and extend men’s lives. In light of this, Brazilian military bought a massive stock of Viagra to treat hypertension. However, this has led Jair Bolsonaro to become the target of massive criticism.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is under fire from critics for ordering tens of thousands of Viagra tablets for the country’s military.
The government purchased 35,000 erectile dysfunction medications, according to Brazilian weekly news journal Veja, distributing 28,000 tablets to the Navy, 5,000 tablets to the Army, and 2,000 tablets to the Air Force.
According to Universo Online, the Navy purchased Viagra to alleviate pulmonary hypertension. Viagra is often used to address excessive blood pressure, according to the Army.
Several of Bolsonaro’s detractors and critics, on the other hand, were unconvinced.
Gleisi Hoffmann, the head of Brazil’s Workers Party (PT), slammed the Viagra acquisition, labeling it a “criminal spending spree,” and accusing the president of eroding the military’s reputation.
“Unless they’re able to prove they’re developing some kind of secret weapon – capable of revolutionizing the international arms industry – it’ll be tough to justify the purchase of 35,000 units of an erectile dysfunction drug,” Ciro Gomes, a leftist political figure who could run against Bolsonaro in the presidential race in October, said.
The military’s “Viagra binge” according to political pundits, was a disgrace.
Bolsonaro retaliated against the mounting criticism as well as everyone else who poked fun at the huge purchase.
And it is possible that Bolsonaro and the military are correct. Researchers in Sweden released a study (read below) last year that explained how Viagra could be utilized to relieve excessive blood pressure and extend men’s lives.
